When a fellow lawyer, judge, or law student needs help with a substance abuse issue, the International Lawyers in Alcoholics Anonymous (ILAA) can extend your operational reach and provide immediate, effective support. Our organization has been helping members of the legal community for over 50 years, and many of our members have been sober for 30 years or more. This long-standing tradition of experience, strength, and hope, rooted in the famous and highly successful 12-Step program of Alcoholics Anonymous, makes us uniquely equipped to assist your client. While our program is spiritual in nature, it is not religious and welcomes people of all beliefs or no beliefs.
How We Can Help
- Accessible and Connected: Whether your client is in a remote area or a major city, our network is just a call away. Our website, ilaa.org, allows you to find members who are ready to help and sort them geographically. We are also highly skilled at using Zoom and phone calls to ensure that distance is never a barrier to getting help.

We’ve navigated the unique pressures of the legal profession while struggling with addiction, so we understand exactly what your client is facing. We offer more than just a sympathetic ear; we are a powerful tool to assist you in helping your client on their path to recovery.
- Completely Free and Confidential: Our assistance is provided at no cost, and all conversations are held in the strictest confidence. We understand the importance of discretion in the legal community. You can either have your client contact one of our members directly or reach out to a member on their behalf to initiate the call.
